The fifth annual Winter Gala to benefit the Dewey Beach Police and Lifeguards will be held Saturday February 16, 2013 at the The Starboard Restaurant in Dewey Beach. Normally hosted in the Baycenter at Lighthouse/Cove, this year the event is moved up to The Starboard due to damage to their building from Hurricane Sandy. Under construction is a new Grand Hyatt hotel and convention center, the Gala will find its new home there when complete for either 2014 or 2015. While not ideal due to limited size, the Starboard will surely host a fun event and do our best to fit everyone in. This year's Winter Gala will feature plenty of excitement with chef-prepared hors d'oeuvres, five open bars, and live music.
The annual Winter Gala is produced by the owners of The Starboard Restaurant and the Lighthouse/Cove/Que Pasa, two of Dewey's premiere destinations. A committee consisting of other Dewey Beach businesses and Friends of Dewey are greatly appreciated as this event has grown into a major group effort. Many thanks to Woody's Grill, Donna at Made Ya Look Salon, Light Action, Hammerheads, WDMS Sound, Port Restaurant, Stingray, Bethany Blues BBQ and The Captain's Table for their help in making this Gala the best! The Dewey Winter Gala has become an official Dewey tradition, proudly celebrating its fifth year.
The money raised through the Gala effort goes directly to the Dewey Beach Lifeguards and Police department to purchase each department needed materials for public safety. All monies are kept separated in their own account, with full disclosure so that this effort can easily be seen as a community effort with your participation directly going towards these departments. The Town Manager in Dewey shares a list of needs for each department with the Steve Montgomery and Jim Baeurle, which we then pick which items can be afforded and purchase them for the town.
Thank you so much for participating in this year's 2013 Dewey Winter Gala, we look forward to a great night to get everyone out and all dressed up mid-Winter as we thank our town's public safety personal for their work!
